What is grief, anyway?

When we think of grief, our minds immediately go to the death that MUST have occurred. Sure, but what is death, really? Yes, we're starting off deep. You're dealing with someone who Iives their daily life with Pluto in Scorpio, FYI. I live for transformation, growth, confrontation, and deep levels of awareness.
Death is an extremely uncomfortable transformation that we cannot come back from in the same way. It doesn't necessarily mean that something is gone per say, however, it is undeniably indicative of serious change. We grieve when we lose people we love, and just as similar, when we separate from an unhealthy relationship dynamic. Mourning is described by Sigmund Freud as a process which ultimately ends with the acceptance of the various beliefs and feelings surrounding a perceived loss. A lot of times we grieve because we have regrets, or because we feel as though our new destiny will be impossible. Whatever the reasons are, it often creates a time of solitude and introspection so that we may figure out...what?
Introspection is something that introverts do naturally, and something which must be taught to others. It's the ability to search within oneself for clarity, lessons, and insight regarding what we're experiencing. This is a particularly important tool to teach children as the explore the world around them. In these moments of physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional separation, we reflect deeply on our experiences and turn our attention inward. It's a method of healing that allows us to better understand and identify our trajectory. While this is not the definitional method of healing, it promotes growth, maturity, and a positive mindset. In these moments, we release the anger, guilt, and regrets which our ego wants to focus on. Instead, a deep spiritual transformation takes place, we find our power within the situation, and move in a new direction. The new direction which is typically more pleasant and fitting for where we are, in fact.
How can you turn your attention inward?
